You have been asked by your line manager to develop a management plan for the collection of waste from diabetics in the county. There are approximately 10,000 diabetics from across the county, who need to have their waste collected. Your report should contain the following: • A brief discussion on any key legislation and policies governing the management of the waste • An outline of the key waste and the nature and types of the key public health and waste management risks posed • Suggested approaches for the containment, labelling, collection and treatment of the waste from the households. • The approaches should be cost effective, address any key risks and be compliant with the legislation Ensure that there is sufficient information available to allow you to undertake a high quality piece of work. The assignment should be about 2,000 words (excluding figures and tables). It should be mainly high quality journal and industry references in a standard (preferably Harvard) format. Presentation of the Assignment • Present answers in clear English with a good standard of grammar. • When answering questions requiring calculations and data presentation, remember to: – present your answer clearly; – include all steps in a calculation; – use SI units; – give your answers to an appropriate number of significant figures; – give all graphs, tables and diagrams a title; – clearly label axes on graphs. • It is essential that all work that is not your own is referenced (see Plagiarism below). You must submit a group reference list Plagiarism What constitutes plagiarism or cheating? If you submit an assignment that contains work that is not your own, without indicating this, you are committing ‘plagiarism’. This might occur in an assignment when: • Using a choice phrase or sentence that you have come across; • Copying word-for-word direct directly from a text • Using text downloaded from the internet • Borrowing statistics or assembled facts from another person or source; • Copying or downloading figures, photographs, pictures or diagrams without acknowledging your sources • Copying from the notes or essays of a fellow student. The penalties for plagiarism are severe and could result in you being terminated from your programme of study
